Eploder 5.0 Timebomb

If like me, you downloaded a Beta version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5.0, you may be hit by the expiration timebomb. I must say that I like IE5.0 very much, but I did not appreciate the timebomb, which in my opinion was a bit overzealous. Apparently, in their desire to ensure that you upgrade to the working version or due to a slipup with the Office 2000 group, a 6 month expiration was placed in one of the dlls in the Web Folders folder. I downloaded the beta version 30 Jan 1999, and the released version 18 March 1999. However, apparently in downloading the released version, I did not include the Web Folders option, whereas I did include it in the beta version. The result: 1 August 1999, everytime that I opened a folder, a dialogue box appeared telling me that my beta version of Office 2000 had expired and that I had to upgrade. Each time I changed the name of a file, the dialogue box appeared eleven (yes, eleven) times. To fix this little problem, either change the name or delete the file "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\msonsext.dll" or download the released version of IE5.0 being sure to include the "Web Folders" option.
